Leading the Alternative

After transferring from a college on the East Coast and finding herself drawn to the Oregon environment, Madison Thompson found her calling in the Center for Civic Engagement. Thompson, who had participated in an AmeriCore program before transferring to OSU, was drawn to the CCE and the opportunity to continue working with community organizations. As an Alternative Spring Break leader, Thompson guides other socially-conscious students as they immerse themselves in week-long service-learning opportunities, engaging with the communities around them.
